Today, I continue the theme of “Insulting With Insects“. The insults work better on those who find insects disgusting than they do on entomologists who find insects to be fascinating and may not appreciate the sting of the sharp tongue.
In music, insect insults are primarily hurled at targets from relationships gone bad. Often it is a romantic relationship gone bad but it is not uncommon to hear insect insults applied more broadly.
Musicians can get fed up with fair weather friends who flock to the rising star then abandon the relationship when times are difficult. This sentiment is captured by the Scottish punk band, Altered Images in their song titled, “Insects”. Claire Grogan and the band tell us,
They are there, everywhere. When you’re down,
They’re not around. They’re insects!
